Clip #1 is Steinbrenner (voiced by Larry David) at his annoying best, singing Heartbreaker while George is trapped under his desk in his makeshift bed…Hilarious!

Clip #2 is George Steinbrenner blissfully recollecting all the people he’s fired in his tenure as Yankee boss.  The magical part was how Steinbrenner slips up and names then current Yankee manager Showalter who actually would be soon fired after this episode aired and replaced with Joe Torre.

Clip # 3 is from the Seinfeld series finale.  Steinbrenner is called to the stand to recollect his years when George worked for him..Needless to say it doesn’t go so well for poor George who is accused of being a communist!

The last clip is a compilation of many of the great Steinbrenner moments from the show.  Here we see how George managed to get improbably hired by Steinbrenner, how Steinbrenner plans to use George as a pipeline into Communist Cuba, and “Big Stein’s” growing obsession with calzones.  CLASSIC stuff.

Whoo!  I’m getting excited about 20th Century Fox’s reboot of the X-Men series.  The X-Men are my favorite comic book franchise, and I was very upset when the whole shebang went downhill with the emergence of X-Men 3, and continued its horrible ways with “Wolverine: Origins”, which turned out to be less of a Wolverine movie, and more of a terrible prequel to the whole X-Men trilogy.  

Anyway, after FOX ruined the series by killing off Cyclops and Professor X, and never settling on a hair style for Storm, they have wisely decided to reboot the series with director Matthew Vaughn in a film entitled, “X-Men: First Class.”  

English director Vaughn got his start helping out Guy Ritchie, who did a few indies himself, but is now known for having helmed the decidedly uneven “Kick-Ass” flick.  However, for this kind of movie, I think he will be a fine choice.  He is no where near as offensive as the likes of McG or Brett Ratner.

The film itself will start at the beginning of the X-Men saga where psychic Professor X, to be played by the excellent James McAvoy (Last King of Scotland), recruits a bunch of teenage mutants to teach them how to use their powers to save man-kind from the likes of Magneto played by the also excellent Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds).

Thankfully, from the cast list, we are gonna have a fairly original cast of mutants which will include Beast (Nicolas Hoult/About a Boy), Emma Frost (Alice Eve/She’s Out of My League), Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones/No Country For Old Men), and Havok (Lucas Till/Walk the Line).  Other X-Men like Jean Grey, Iceman, and Cyclops haven’t been cast yet, but its strongly rumored that “Kick-Ass” himself, Aaron Johnson, will play Cyclops, but that is unconfirmed.  

And lastly, rumors are flying that Kevin Bacon is in negotiations to play an unrevealed X-Men villain!  That’s just awesome.  I know Kevin lost a lot of his fortune with Bernie Madoff, and probably needs roles like this to stabilize his finances, and I hope he gets it, because he is legendary.  

Anyway, I am very pleased with the way the cast and crew has shaped up thus far, and look forward to X-Men: First Class in 2011.  As news continues to break on this flick, I’ll be right here bringing you all the juicy bits.  Oh, and look out for my epic upcoming video series covering the entire X-Men saga, starting with the incredible X-Men Animated Series from the 90s.  The X-Mania on Internetclub ‘91 is about to explode.

With the release of the new Karate Kid movie, which I will never support in any way ever, it got me thinking about the ORIGINAL Karate Kid’s greatest moments.  So for Karate Kid I, Karate Kid II, and Karate Kid III, I picked out my favorite scene from each movie to share with you.

From Karate Kid I, I went with the climatic final battle between Danny and Johnny.  First of all, its got the legendary line by one of those Cobra-Kai douches, “GET HIM A BODY BAG, HAHAHAH!”  Second, it features Daniel’s amazing Crane kick.  There is probably no kid in America who didn’t at least try that kick once after having seen this movie for the first time.  Legendary!

From Karate Kid II, I went with the opening scene where Mr. Miyagi kicks evil sensei John Kreese’s ass.  John Kreese was choking Johnny Lawrence to death in the parking lot, and Miyagi was the only adult who cared enough to stop him.  After humilating Kreese by dodging his dumb punches, thus making his fists bleed in the process, Miyagi scares the living shit out of him by raising his karate chop of fury…but does Miyagi chop Kreese’s head off?  Watch and see!

And lastly, from Karate Kid III, we have Miyagi once again absolutely destroying not only Kreese, but his apprentice, AND his Karate expert buddy, Terry Silver, who happens to be the king of all douches.  Its a great scene because it just shows how invincible Miyagi is.  Very satisfying.

1.  Peter Parker has always been portrayed as a poor adopted white boy from Queens.

Wait…is that it?  That’s the only complaint?  Hmm…short list…Ok, well, this will be easier then I thought (Suit up for some sarcasm, Spidey fans)

Hm, poor adopted boy from New York City…does that only happen to white people?  Aren’t young low income black males with no parents only adopted by rich old white men?  (RIP GC)  And, in all seriousness, have you ever heard of a young black boy ever being raised by his aunt or uncle?  That’s just illogical!  And isn’t Peter Parker distrusted by his old-fashioned Newspaper editor?  You know, the one with the Hitler mustache?  Why would such a tyrannical cheapskate of a boss ever distrust a quippy young black dude?  And what about that whole plot-line where Spider-Man is treated as a menace, hunted by the ignorant police force because they don’t realize he’s a good guy?  Black people cannot relate to that!  And Peter Parker’s a brilliant young science major!  Black people don’t go to college….OK ENOUGH!!!  ENOUGH RACIST SARCASM!  You all know the stereotypes, and you SHOULD know they are wrong, I pray you do.

I for one hope that they cast Donald Glover for Spider-Man.  I think its a great idea and sends a great message to young fans who LOVE Spider-Man.  I also think it makes for a more interesting movie.  Glover is a brilliant young actor, and as I tried to elucidate above, there is nothing about the character of Parker/Spider-Man that has anything to do with being a white boy.  And one last note to the people who don’t want to see the original comic books changed.  First of all, if you haven’t noticed, the movie studios have already changed every comic book hero they put on the screen in significant ways.  Spider-Man has organic webs, Wolverine is too tall, Dr. Doom is not a king, Superman can lift islands of Kyrptonite, Storm’s hair is all messed up!  The list goes on forever.  The point is, don’t look to the movies to uphold the tradition of comic book storytelling, because that’s the last place you’ll find it.  Lastly, I can’t imagine one non-racist person not going to see Spider-Man because Peter Parker is black.  If anything, it’ll keep racists out of the movie theater, and that’s fine by me.
