“Hot Tub Time Machine” was one of my favorite movies of 2010, and the Apples in Stereo’s “Dream About the Future” was one of my favorite songs of 2010, so I thought I’d combine the two for one epic movie music mash-up. Enjoy!

Horrible Alternate Ending to “Titanic”

titanic2Check this video out, it’s an actual filmed alternate ending to the 1997 epic James Cameron smash hit, “Titanic”!  The clip is a bit long, so I recommend skipping to about 3 minutes in to see how the movie could have ended.  Needless to say it is horrible.  In the original unaltered ending, we just see Rose throw her billion dollar diamond over the boat without anyone knowing.  In this version, the entire crew of the Titanic Recovery boat she’s on confronts her before she does it.  Rose gives one last speech about embracing life, but unlike before when her words were inspiring, here they just sound cackling and crazy.  Then she lets Bill Paxton touch the diamond for another crazy reason, and proceeds to drive the fat guy with the beard insane by throwing it over.  It is interesting to note that the fat guy shouts something like, “hey what’ll my wife think about this??”  And its like wow, you’re married?  Then it all ends with Bill Paxton trying to hook up with Rose’s granddaughter.  I guess he was inspired by Rose story where the message was sex trumps money…Anyway, the point is, if Cameron ended the movie with this cacophonous resolution, the movie would have ending up being a million times worse.  I mean, there is no way that this ending was intended as a joke, but it is so comically bad.  Give it a whirl folks and let me know what you think.

“Kick-Ass” X-Men: First Class, Reboot!

X_Men_First_Class

Whoo!  I’m getting excited about 20th Century Fox’s reboot of the X-Men series.  The X-Men are my favorite comic book franchise, and I was very upset when the whole shebang went downhill with the emergence of X-Men 3, and continued its horrible ways with “Wolverine: Origins”, which turned out to be less of a Wolverine movie, and more of a terrible prequel to the whole X-Men trilogy.

Anyway, after FOX ruined the series by killing off Cyclops and Professor X, and never settling on a hair style for Storm, they have wisely decided to reboot the series with director Matthew Vaughn in a film entitled, “X-Men: First Class.”

English director Vaughn got his start helping out Guy Ritchie, who did a few indies himself, but is now known for having helmed the decidedly uneven “Kick-Ass” flick.  However, for this kind of movie, I think he will be a fine choice.  He is no where near as offensive as the likes of McG or Brett Ratner.

The film itself will start at the beginning of the X-Men saga where psychic Professor X, to be played by the excellent James McAvoy (Last King of Scotland), recruits a bunch of teenage mutants to teach them how to use their powers to save man-kind from the likes of Magneto played by the also excellent Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds).

Thankfully, from the cast list, we are gonna have a fairly original cast of mutants which will include Beast (Nicolas Hoult/About a Boy), Emma Frost (Alice Eve/She’s Out of My League), Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones/No Country For Old Men), and Havok (Lucas Till/Walk the Line).  Other X-Men like Jean Grey, Iceman, and Cyclops haven’t been cast yet, but its strongly rumored that “Kick-Ass” himself, Aaron Johnson, will play Cyclops, but that is unconfirmed.

And lastly, rumors are flying that Kevin Bacon is in negotiations to play an unrevealed X-Men villain!  That’s just awesome.  I know Kevin lost a lot of his fortune with Bernie Madoff, and probably needs roles like this to stabilize his finances, and I hope he gets it, because he is legendary.

Anyway, I am very pleased with the way the cast and crew has shaped up thus far, and look forward to X-Men: First Class in 2011.  As news continues to break on this flick, I’ll be right here bringing you all the juicy bits.  Oh, and look out for my epic upcoming video series covering the entire X-Men saga, starting with the incredible X-Men Animated Series from the 90s.  The X-Mania on Internetclub ‘91 is about to explode.

“Lost” in 3 Minutes

I never saw an episode of Lost with the exception of flipping between the series finale and the Mets/Yankee game last May. Needless to say, I had no idea what was going on, but I was hoping that there would be some sort of scene of mass violence, or mass chaos, or mass something! None of that really happened, and I was left scratching my head. Luckily, this guy explains the entire show in 3 MINUTES for those who have never seen it and are curious about what the fucks going on. Enjoy.

Donald Glover 4 Spider-Man!

donaldgloverRecently, there has been one of those things called a meme, basically a viral idea, that has attacked the internet with force.  This one concerns Sony’s reboot of the Spider-Man franchise.  With Tobey Maguire gone, the titular (hah) role is open to just about anybody, and a group of folks on Facebook had the bright idea of electing one Donald Glover to play the role of Spider-Man.  Glover, a veteran writer of NBC’s 30 Rock, a star of NBC’s Community, as well as a founding member of the wildly successful underground comedy team known as DERRICK, would be perfect for the role.  He is a young, skinny, athletic looking, comedian, all key qualities to the Spider-Man character.  These traits fit right in with the apparent goal of the re-boot, which is to take Peter Parker back to his high school days, and have the series connect more with a teenage audience.  As you might have guessed, Donald is a black man, which is a detail that has raised the ire of certain comic book purists, now desperately fighting for their opinion that Spider-Man should remain white, without trying to appear racist.  Here is my glorious opinion on the matter.  You “purists” are wrong on every count.  Lets start by listing them one by one, and I’ll tackle all the complaints after.

1.  Peter Parker has always been portrayed as a poor adopted white boy from Queens.

Wait…is that it?  That’s the only complaint?  Hmm…short list…Ok, well, this will be easier then I thought (Suit up for some sarcasm, Spidey fans) (more…)

Sega Activator Training Video

The Sega Activator seemed amazing at the time, but of course this became one of the stupidest controllers ever.  For 80 bucks, you got a large ring that you stand in and wave your arms and legs about like an idiot.   Here is the set up and training video you got when you purchased the thing.

Still somehow think the Activator is cool?  Well that was a promotional video made by Sega, here is some actual dingbat TV hosts using the thing.  They are playing a 2D boxing game, and have to box 2 dimensionally while looking strait ahead at the screen.  This is really funny.
